The Dakar Rally 2023 is underway in Saudi Arabia. The weather played a part in Stage 4 of the rally, with heavy rains, cooling the temperatures down for the fourth stage as well. WRC veteran Sebastian Loeb won the stage in the car category, with Joan Barreda Bort in the bikes category.

Stage 4 is a 435km look west of Ha’il. With altitudes ranging from 800m to 1,300m, the competitors had to face tricky routes and dunes while battling it out. Loeb (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) finished the stage in 4hr11m34s with Stephane Peterhansel (Team Audi Sport) finishing just 13 seconds behind him.

In the overall standings, Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Gazoo Racing) is leading followed by Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive Racing) with Carlos Sainz (Team Audi Sport) in fourth behind his teammate Peterhansel.

In the bikes category, Boat finished the stage in 4hr28m18s followed by Pablo Quintanilla (Monster Energy Honda) who finished 16 seconds behind. Indian team, Hero MotoSports had a forgettable day with Joaquim Rodrigues retiring from the rally after a fall. Franco Caimi returned the best result of Stage 4 for the team finishing 17th.

The overall standings are led by Daniel Sanders (Red Bull GasGas factory racing) followed by Skyler Howes(Husqvarna Factory Racing). Harith Noah too retired from Dakar post an accident on the stage.
